      Many, many years. CRISPR gene snipping has just entered into pre-clinical trials. Meaning it then has to go into clinical trials and then large human trials, each of which could take years. So still a long way off.

      I think the average time from clinical trial to approval is approximately 10 years, but considering that there hasn’t been an approved gene therapy (not that I’m aware of) in the UK, it will probably take a while. One of my colleage was involved in a clinical trial that was successful, I think the paperwork to approve it took about 3 years.
